Tiny Drawings from the end of 2022

Here is another paint brochure embellishment experience (as I am calling it today). It’s a simple process: I look at the paint name and I draw something that fits it, as best I can. I did this set in December, 2022. This time I was using grays into blacks for my color scheme.

You know something, I first made one of these brochure drawing sets in 2015. Look here if you want to see it, and search this blog under the term “brochure” to see others.

Since that time, I’ve returned to the form again and again. It is relaxing to do this activity. Try it yourself.

And, I need to say, this idea was not original with me. I credit my blog friend A Certain Line with it, and here is the post that started me off on this path. I’m grateful every time I do another one of these sets.

Another Array of Tiny Images

Here is another decorated paint brochure from the home improvement store. You may remember other similar works I have done in the past. (Search this blog under the term “brochure” to see more of them.)

What I do is, I take the name of the paint and draw something in the tiny space that illustrates the words.

I favor these white/off-white brochures because the black pen shows up so well. But, you can do this with any color (I have) – just use a contrasting pen color.

Come on, give it a try, it is fun!

Here are the individual pages, closer up.

Paint Brochure – Blue and Drawings and Pen and Ink

Here is a paint brochure drawing from September 2019. Unlike my other creations in this genre subset (or whatever you want to call it) I had no theme here. Just making use of the nice colors, I thought.

I am taken with the fish-like creature in line 2, how the colors grade across the fish’s body. I will try this kind of thing again.

Tell It Like It Is and In Color

You’ve seen several versions of paint brochures and my augmentations to them with a pen. Up to now it’s been pictures only. (Look here if you want to see an example, or you can search this blog with the term “paint brochure”).

Well, I’ve gotten interested in lettering (I think it is an outgrowth of my handwriting re-education project from a couple of years ago – look here if you wonder what I mean).

My goodness, what a lot of looking I’m asking you to do. So I’ll get to the looking part of this post in particular. I used some TV-watching time to do this work set out below.

From sofa art to sofa lettering. Where can the paint brochures and I go next?

This version is a couple of pages pulled from a larger brochure. I did it in March, 2019. Hey, it’s fun.
