Similarities

The figure in both of these tiles is in the same position in the composition and appears in profile. After that, well, things diverge.

I make tiles in groups. It is easier to work on several at once, working first in one color on all of them, and then the next, and so on. That is why there are often similarities among tiles I make at the same time, either in theme, composition, or color selections. I think of them as cousins.

These @ 7″ x 7″ tiles were made in July 2019 and are done in low-fire clay, colored with Velvet underglazes, and fired at cone 06.

Bird Bird Insect

Today’s theme is winged creatures, not using their wings at the moment.

Featuring Birds That Are Black

Here are two recent tiles that are for the bird-watchers to note down on their logs…

The first one is about 4″ x 4″, the second about 7″ x 7″.  Fired at cone 06 and colored with Velvet underglazes, these were done in January, 2019.

People Sitting

Some people are busy, some are contemplative, some social, some taking life as it comes.

Ink Blot to Bird

I had some paper with ink blots on it, left over from another project in which I used this paper to soak up extra ink on the drawing I was doing.

I saw birds. So I gave them an environment on a post card. That’s the story!

These were made in March 2018.
