Family Name Tiny Rugs

You may remember I made a small punch needle rug for my granddaughter:

Then I decided her parents needed them, too. So I got busy.

Here is the whole family!

Those are the cutest rugs ever with their shapes and colors and that they are a personalized treasure. You probably get them done quick enough to not get bored to tears by months of punching like if it was a room-sized rug.

Thank you. You are right, this is a perfect size. I can make one in a few nights of TV watching including sewing the back on it, and then I can move on to new colors and new shapes. And it is an easy to handle size. I used to think I would like to make an actual rug, but, now I realize, I don’t need a rug, and it would not be easily able to do while sitting on the sofa at night, which is how I like to do them! I could keep making name rugs for a long time, I think. If any one wants one…speak!

I love making them. There is a nice balance between having a plan (the person’s name) and how to fit it in the little rug, and then as I make it, things always have to be improvised depending on how it looks. Plus it is a fast project.

I really enjoy punch needle and using text in art projects. These little rugs are perfect for a quick project and yet interesting to design and make.
