I took some photos at the grocery store and chose this image as one I wanted to draw. I love the variety of items crammed in this small space and I enjoyed capturing their details.
Here is the original photo:
Here is my drawing. Pen and ink, 8″ x 8″. October 2022.
I love all those things. (K)
I cannot resist stopping and looking over this kind of display. It’s got exactly all the things I like best (maybe not the playing cards, I’m indifferent there, but the other stuff…)
I love playing cards. All kinds of cards, really, from postcards to tarot.
Excellent drawing. Stationery stores are happy places for me so even little displays like this in larger stores hold appeal.
Yes, me too. A display like this, or a store full of this kind of item, second only to a bookstore.
I love how you always seem to capture the simple joys of everyday life.
Thank you. Ever since I was little I have loved school supplies and stationery and so on, and this kind of display draws me like a magnet. I could spend all day in a store full of this kind of thing.
As a former school teacher, I still by myself a new set of supplies every August.
You know, it’s funny, I do the same thing, stock up on notebooks and the like at that time, not from being a teacher, because I wasn’t, but from being a schoolchild. It just naturally occurs to me when I see that time of year comes around and the talk about supplies…I still go right out and get them. Ever since when, I guess about 1963? My last school year was 1980. My goodness.
What a fun sketch!
Thank you. I cannot resist this kind of display. Even now as I look at the picture I want to buy some glue or a deck of cards, neither of which I need.
