I love the colour palette of this piece – and can see how inspired you were by all the colours and textures mentioned in the story. The whole thing is vibrant and energetic and uplifting.
This author’s stories always are full of life and color and I think this picture (with one of my favorite color combinations, red and yellow) fits this one. Personally I also like all the references to a certain time that is in the past but still very familiar to me.
Love the colors on this one
Thank you. Me too. Warm and vibrant.
I’m Sandra Dee by Sheree Shatsky is such a celebration of growing-up, shopping and the colour red. Claudia, you’ve created a gorgeous and vibrant illustration for this gem of a story. Thank you very much!
Thank you. I am reminded of my older cousins when I was maybe grade-school age or even younger. They were so glamourous to me. And…I love the colors in this one – warm and vibrant and full of life. Like the story.
I got a kick out of the story and you illustrated just right.
Thank you. I love these colors. And the story makes me think of a lot of good childhood memories of my older and, to me, very sophisticated cousins.
You’re welcome, Claudia.
Claudia, thank you so much for your illustration of my story. Was so excited to see your interpretation and as always, your art lifts the words off the page. I’m happy you enjoyed the piece. Thanks again!
I’m really glad you liked it, thank you. The color scheme just makes me happy. and your story makes me think of childhood memories of my older cousins who I thought were so grownup, I couldn’t wait until I could be like them.
I love the echo of the stockings in the illustration. (K)
Thank you. This story really took me back to my childhood and my much older cousins, who would come into town and dazzle me (a 4-5-6 year old).
