In September 2020 I made about 200 tiny tiles to serve as art-drop-off items (if you wonder what I am talking about, I leave art items in the various places I go for people to find. I chronicle these activities on my personal blog, Sometimes You Get So Confused).

Anyway, here is a selection to view. For these tiles, I used low-fire clay, Velvet underglazes, and low-fire glazes, fired at cone 06. I think this combination shows off the sculptural qualities these tiles have.
You know I continue to seethe in envy for those who find them on their walks when I only have a nicely shaped twig or colorful rock to discover on my daily walks – ha! But seriously – these are so cool! I wonder how many people have several and are collecting.
You never know, you may be the person who finds some art treasure, the next time you are out. It’s just a matter of time. Occasionally I hear from someone who has collected items, a couple of people found me by email and others have left notes. Though I don’t ever expect a person to communicate back to me it makes me feel good to hear people like them.
I love these tiles, Claudia. What a creative idea this is!
Thank you. I like making a large group of tiles like this. Since they are small there is a chance to try all different things, and if one doesn’t work out, oh well, there are plenty of others!
