Here are some clay creatures made in September, 2020.
First up, this three-legged insect creature. He’s maybe 8 inches tall or so.
You may remember the puff people I used to make – in the dozens, if not hundreds. Here are a couple, to remind you.
Here is a variation on that theme.

For both of these new creatures, I used sgraffito and scratching techniques as well as using clay stamps I made myself. The eyes in particular were made with a stamp.
How about a drama shot, to end the post?

I like these a lot! They remind me of the legend of the Mothman but these look much too friendly and huggable by comparison.
Thank you. I think it is their eyes. I used a stamp I had made myself to make the swirlies.
They have a lot of personality. (K)
I love them, so cool! 😍
Thank you, I think they turned out well… and they did not fall apart in the kiln! Which is always a fear.
These are really great, Claudia. N.
Thank you. At first I was disappointed in the glazes but now I realized they are right for the pieces – my usual crazy colorful style would detract from the structure of these guys. I will say it was fun to make them, devising all their little body parts!
Magnificent creatures. Just love them.
Thank you! I think they turned out well, better than I was hoping (because as you know, you never really can anticipate what the clay will decide to do…)
Your clay creatures always make me smile — they have wonderful “attitude”
Thank you! I think they make their own personalities, I just take down the information and put it in a form someone can see…!
I remember the puff people! I like these other clay creatures too!
Thank you. Oh those puffs, they are a whole crowd of little creatures, that is for sure.
