In October 2017 I came across an internet blog challenge for a story written in two sentences. I wrote a story. Liking the format, I did another one. Another one. And another.
Quite a few stories later, I had enough for a book. Not only did I have stories, but I had written a short poem and created a brush and India ink illustration for each one as well.
The result was Minuscule, published in 2018. I’m now going to show you the book illustrations as an ongoing feature on this blog, once a week. I’ll link back to the story (they have been published one by one on my poetry blog).
If you want to hold the entire book in your hand, the print version is available on Amazon.
Today’s story is “Undone”. Read it here.
Ha ha! I love this illustration. That sideways glance of the woman and her whole expression and energy is just perfect and I love the chunky black mark of spinach on the tooth.
Thank you. I remember this was one illustration it took me several attempts to get the effect I wanted, so I am glad that it is presenting itself in that way!
You’ve captured the look in her eyes perfectly (and the spinach in his teeth as well, come to think of it!).
Thank you. For this book I usually drew the illustration several times because I’m not always in much control of my artwork, my drawing skills are very much operating on their own schedule and whims…so I was very happy when what I envisioned came out on the page like this, I think this picture is one of my favorites.
I did not realize you had a book on Amazon, very cool you have published your awesome work!
Thank you, Yes, this story book, plus poetry books. You know, it is really easy to self publish, so I just keep doing it. I always wanted to have printed books with my name on them and now I do… !!!
