I recently made a couple of baby blankets. Here’s the first one, done in a slip stitch pattern, using a combination acrylic/wool blend. It’s pretty small as blankets go, maybe 26″ x 26″ or so, good for a stroller.
And here is the other one. It’s done in the same kind of yarn, but here I have done large stripes formed of small stripes, which gives an interesting color blend effect, I think, using garter stitch.
It’s larger, 36″ x 30″, I think, suitable for a crib or playpen sleep session.
Why did I make these and why am I showing them to you now? Because they are for my little granddaughter, my first grandchild, born yesterday, July 27, 2020.
Hello and welcome to Leona Lora!
Congratulations, Claudia, on your first grandchild.
Thank you, we are all very thrilled she is here.
Oh happy day. Congratulations. And the blankets are lovely
Thank you, we are happy she is here now. And making the blankets was fun. I had not knitted for some time after a lifetime of almost non-stop knitting, due to a hand injury in 2012. I am glad I did these projects, it reminded me how much I enjoy it. Now, who needs a blanket???
Congratulations and they are lovely!
Thank you. I think there is nothing like a knitted blankie if you are a small person!
Happy news!! The throws are wonderful and could easily be part of her life when she is older as well.
Thank you. I enjoyed making them, it has been some time since I did any knitting, though I did a LOT back a few years. (I may want some more projects, I did buy extra yarn…) and I hope she will like them, and when she outgrows them, well, she can keep them, let her dolls use them, or …the cat can sleep on them? Doesn’t matter, I enjoyed doing it.
I love those blankets! Wonderful colour choices. And congratulations on your grandchild!
Thank you. On all counts! As for the colors, well, I could not resist just adding one…then another…then another…I like to see how they work with each other. And I do like a nice soft and bright blanket (I am sure I sleep better when my blanket is cheerful, not kidding, either…)
They look great! Congrats on the new addition 😊
Thank you! We are very happy to greet here. And making these blankets was fun.
