Remember my TV-time drawing habit? I sit on the sofa and draw while the television thinks it has my attention.
I pulled out my sketchbook one night in April 2020 and did these small pictures of scenes in my home, from photos. Here are the photos:

That’s such a jolly interpretation of the everyday. I think we should use our own everydays more often. Just think what we would have missed if Vermeer and hadn’t painted ‘The Milkmaid’.
Thank you. I think it’s easy to overlook how engrossing the extremely ordinary is, and if you can open your eyes to it, you will never lack for art subjects, or, just interesting things to look at and notice. I am taking photos of more things around home to draw – right now my attention level is spotty and I like having simple projects like this to work on. Plus it is really helping my drawing skills.
Yes, I find drawing is like many activities if you don’t keep it up one’s skill level drops – mine certainly does.
