I showed you a glazed tall woman figurine I made at my studio class a little while ago. And I mentioned other ones I have made at home. They are quite different – I meticulously color them in patterns using underglazes, and they are made of terracotta clay, which fires at a lower temperature than the stoneware clay I use at the studio.
Enough said. Here are cousins of the glazed lady. These were made in January 2020, terracotta clay, Velvet underglazes, fired at cone 06, about 16″ tall.
First lady.
And the second lady. For some reason I don’t have a photo of the back.
Are you selling any of these? I would be interested in buying another of your figurines. I gave the first one as a gift to a dear friend and she LOVES it! Now I want my own!
Thank you! I am so glad to hear this. I am not sure about selling right now, I don’t want to go to the post office, and honestly, my head is so confused right now. These ladies aren’t going anywhere, maybe we could talk in a few weeks?
They look like sorcerers. (K)
They are powerful figures, I think, being so tall and statuesque (no pun intended) and I hope they vibrate out some good feelings for our world and for whoever sees them.
Very Interesting Statues!!
Thank you. I like to make them and somehow I feel they are pleasant companions, especially now.
I love these! I think you are getting better and better at making these. I love that chartreuse (?) scarf on the second lady (my brain reads the stripe as a long, elegant evening scarf maybe because I love scarves) and I absolutely love that serpent shape on the reverse of the first lady and I also love her cobalt perky breasts.
Thank you. I feel I am evolving these ladies in a good way, myself, and with each one I become more sure of what I am trying to be doing. They have their essential features and yet never the same. I’m coming to feel I’m developing my own squad of encouraging beings. Even if they are just clay statues, they do seem to exude some kind of…I don’t know what, but I like having them around right now. (This sounds weird, I know)
Doesn’t sound at all weird to me.
Thank you. Sometimes I feel I drift off into this ether place and float, and it may all be too much. For the reader. I seem to like it.
Statuesque
I do like the elongated proportions. Thank you.
These are so cool! I love the colors!
Thank you. I so enjoy taking time and adding all the details, and of course, there has never been a color I didn’t like, so they all get included!
Wow, pretty darn amazing!
Thank you. Girlpower! They remind me of views of your fabric inventory.
