Little Houses in Terracotta Land

Here are some little clay houses I made in August, 2019. They are just little houses. Not boxes, not condiment containers, just little clay houses. That is all I wanted to make, some little houses!

Terracotta clay, Velvet underglazes and clear glaze, fired at cone 05. About 4″ tall.

Here are two views of the first two. They are decorated on all four sides but I only took photos of two sides.

And the second two.

I really like making little houses. I’ve done interior rooms and also houses like these that are just the shell. Houses mean home to me and that is the most important location to me on earth, home.

Love these especially the one with a cat – my second most comforting thing. It was a joy to see your cute little clay houses. Little houses, whether clay, wood or cardboard, fill me with happiness. Maybe it’s because, to me, they represent comfort and safety.

Thank you. I feel the same way. Home is the most important place on earth to me, and I include the building, not just the people. Being inside my house is my safest, most easeful place.

Thank you. I have always liked houses, any size! Tiny trinkets, dollhouses, playhouses, full size houses…Always mean the same thing to me, a home for somebody.

Thank you. I return to this subject over and over again (different incarnations) because as long as I have remembered I have been interested in houses and house design. Maybe in my next life I will be an architect?
