I took this photo in May, 2019, through my car windshield, parked in the lot at Welsh Road, the Pennypack Trail, where I run or walk several times a week. Yes, after I took this photo, I got out of the car and ran in the rain. If you dress correctly and don’t mind wet feet, a run in the rain is refreshing.
I like the way the gloomy day, the rain drops, and the fact that the camera focused on the near scene and blurred out the building and tree make an ordinary scene into something threatening. In real life, it’s a senior citizen apartment building and the tree has no evil designs on anyone that I can see.
Ouh, so beautiful!
Thank you. This photo is one of those serendipity moments when all the elements combined to make something pretty ordinary (because in real life this building is totally forgettable) into another self. I love when that happens. We all have many layers in us, I think, and when they shift and show another view, that is surprising and meaningful, I think.
What a very, very beautiful thought indeed. One should try and create more of these moments in everyday life and be happy just like that.
Yes, I think so too.
Lovely photograph
Thank you!
It looks like rain on a mirror. (K)
Yes, there is a sense of detachment, caused by the focus on the droplets, I guess, maybe, that same feeling I get when looking at my artwork in a mirror. Familiar and yet transformed.
