Safe

Here is the second large painting I did recently. This one also refers to my life desires – taking care of my house, exercising, doing art, and writing poetry. Here, I have painted myself outside in the world, wandering along through a garden. I am alone and thinking my own thoughts. I am safe and enclosed but I am not trapped.

Well, that’s what I think this painting is saying, anyway.

I love this one! The composition is superb. I love the vines twisting and creating all those negative spaces between the leaves. And I love that the figure is enclosed in a little space, all snug.

Thank you. I started off with the vines and you would laugh if I had progress pictures of this one – they moved all over, just the slightest change and then the balance of the whole thing needed adjusting. And I do love having the little lady person figure in her tiny cozy spot. I love that feeling myself and so I gave it to her.

Thank you! It was a larger canvas than I usually attempt so getting the composition and colors to work out took experimentation but- eventually it worked out. I would try such a large painting again now- before I was unsure. It was fun.
